Amazon has taken book enjoyment to new heights for the consumer with their fine Kindle Reader Format. For those customers who do not have a Kindle Reader, Amazon gives you free Apps for using your iPad, iPhone, Blackberry, Android, or PC, to read Kindle formatted Books. Your free Apps are downloadable with every book at Amazon. Importantly, authors (and the book price) need not be saddled with the traditional-print overhead costs of agents, editors, graphic artists, printers, physical storage fees, inventory control, shipping, remainder buy-back, etc, etc. Everyone wins while knowledge, reading enjoyment and book ownership increases. The story setting is the western USA, mainly Idaho, Utah and Wyoming. You will recognize some of the locations as you get into the story, because you have probably been there yourself. In much calmer times probably. Following a serious financial collapse and general breakdown in government it was easy for wealthy drug cartels to purchase real estate contracts from the cash-strapped banks. Eventually taking over local government, they declare anyone a subversive who may be a threat to them. If you belong to any church, the Boy Scouts, the NRA, or have any weapon purchases on record, or are suspected of complaining, you are a subversive. Listen for the knock at your door. While you are there a carload of violent thugs invade the area. One of their number seals off the only way out while the rest of the criminals begin savaging the families who are camping there. If you have ever been camping in the west, you may recognize the area. This short story may help you rethink your camping equipment for the summer. And, if you are not able to protect your own family, you might hope that if this situation ever envelopes you that "Bubba Smartass" (as his wife eventually calls him) is camping there also. Some mild language, descriptions of violence as you watch these thugs take over the campground. Enjoy! |

Nothing like all the prior gifts you've sent, but something absolutely unique to the place you are visiting. You finally decide on the perfect item, now all you have to do is find it. And, sometimes, when you find it you have to figure out how to get it out. This novella takes place in Hong Kong. The cover art is one photo the author took while he was there. Not a complicated story, but take your time on this one; if you try to speed-read you'll miss the time-line and get lost. I did!
